Shloka's are prayers praising various deities which sung by Hindu sants and priest during Puja ceremony or daily rituals. The holy names of the deities are chanted during the puja. They constitute a part of Navratri puja Hast Rekha shlok is a Shloka that has been composed by Bhaishajya Panchkanya Ganga . It is a shloka that, in essence, praises Shri Ganga. It is one of the sixty-eight names of Vishnu that are assigned to him according to his eighteen incarnations. This is one of the most sacred and significant shlokas heard every Navaratri. "Hast Rekha" means "the lucky star". This name refers to the sixteenth day of Navaratri during which this particular verse is sung. The rishis (sages) themselves praise the Ganga. The whole world is accepted as one entity in whose search for salvation everyone is equal; accordingly, everyone has equal importance. "Agni" the fire god who has obeyed all Shiva's Vedic injunctions looking into Shiva's eye, has the duty to purify each and every person at least once in one's lifetime in order to attain salvation. He creates light which illuminates the beings; he also purifies them. "Bhuloka" or this whole world is essentially Agni himself. Therefore it has been explained that "Bhuloka Hast Rekha Angasya Jivasya" i.e. "This whole world is essentially Agni himself" How can anyone in this entire world be without the touch of the fire god? The constant existence of fire in this world is in itself an act of worship. The worshipping elements are the flames generated when the holy fire (Agni) is generated out of firewood or when god Agni takes birth, warms up and consumes the desired offering. Fire is also generated when there is waste matter which has to be burned; it cleanses everything. "Mokshagya" i.e. the fire god is the yogi who has destroyed all the karmas or earned merits which may have accumulated in one's nature. "Kaivalya" i.e. one who has found salvation, the whole world is his eternal abode, Shiva is Shiva to him, he does not need to come out of Shiva's temple to get salvation. "Tarpana" i.e. offering made to the fire God at the end of every day by chanting mantra's after daily bath that recharges our bodies with nectar. This Shloka is sung during Navaratri puja. cfa1e77820
